PLOT: "It has been years since the man once known as Tarzan (Alexander Skarsgård) left the jungles of Africa behind for a gentrified life as John Clayton III, Lord Greystoke, with his beloved wife, Jane (Robbie) at his side. Now, he has been invited back to the Congo to serve as a trade emissary of Parliament, unaware that he is a pawn in a deadly convergence of greed and revenge, masterminded by the Belgian, Captain Leon Rom (Waltz). But those behind the murderous plot have no idea what they are about to unleash."
Admittedly, the first timeI saw the ad for the trailer, I had zero interest in watching it, as I'd thought it would be yet another "origin" story re-imagine/re-booted/re-told - as wont Hollywood flicks do these days, but was pleasantly surprised when I realized the gist of the story wasn't necessarily a origin story …
Funny fact: I had utterly failed to recognize actress Margot Robbie (“The Wolf of Wall Street” and upcoming "Suicide Squad") until even after watching the trailer, and only "found out" as I was typing this post! Yep.
Directed by David Yates, "THE LEGEND OF TARZAN" is slated for release on July 1, 2016.
