*WARNING: SPOILERS IN THIS POST AHEAD*

Take a trip back to Reykjavik with Neil Gaiman, as he reveals the origins of his epic story.

"American Gods is a Hugo and Nebula Award-winning novel by Neil Gaiman, published in 2001 and has been adapted into a television series on STARZ - Created by Bryan Fuller and Michael Green - with the first season premiered in 2017. Fuller and Green scripted the first episode and served as showrunners. Gaiman executive produced along with Fuller, Green, Craig Cegielski, Stefanie Berk and Thom Beers. (Source).

For Season Two, Fuller and Green were replaced by Jesse Alexander.
Charles Eglee will serve as showrunner for the upcoming third season.

PREMISE: "The series will focus on the mysterious Shadow Moon, a man serving three years in prison for assault. With only days remaining in his sentence, Shadow is given an unexpected early release after his beloved wife Laura is killed in a car accident. Flying home for the funeral, Shadow is seated next to a man calling himself Wednesday, who offers Shadow a job he seems all too confident that Shadow will accept. Arriving home, Shadow finds that the life he thought was waiting for him is gone. With no other options, he accepts Wednesday's offer. At first, it appears that Wednesday is nothing but a con artist who runs scams for cash and needs Shadow as a collaborator and bodyguard. Shadow soon learns that Wednesday is in fact the god Odin of Norse mythology. Wednesday is making his way across America, gathering all the old gods, who, without believers, have now incorporated themselves into American life and pretend to be ordinary people, while the New Gods – Media, Technology, and a host of others – grow ever stronger. Shadow finds himself drawn into a final confrontation between the old gods and the new." (Wiki / First featured)

Just WHO ARE the "American Gods"? Featured below are Character Posters previously featured on ILIKETEEVEE... I had a collection of screengrabbed character bios, but they are "incomplete", but these were what I had...

Essentially Shadow Moon is caught in the midst of "Old Gods" battling with "New Gods", and with his cmpact/contract with "Wednesday", treks across America's heartlands to recruit more "Old Gods" into Wednesday's side in the coming war.

Season One was recruitment and introduction to the players, while Season Two saw new players introduced, and a lil'bit of warring on the side. Everybody is making moves. Season Three is the result of some moves, as well a continuation of recruitment.

I'd done a SPOILERFUL REVIEW of the first two episodes of Season One, and Episode One of Season 2, but not ventured beyond, actually... Nevertheless, here are a few more preview clips of Season One, including the utterly awesome "Opening Title Sequence"...!

GameSpot Universe very interestingly breakdown the opening titles and offers up some theories - featured HERE on ILIKETEEVEE.

The above video takes a SPOILER-FILLED 15-minuter look back at the story and relive the mythology in Season One of "American Gods" ... while the Featurette below - titled "Eve of Destruction" - introduces what folks could expect for Season 2...

Ending this particular blog-feature with a video promo heralding the coming of Season Two (First featured HERE), which premiered March 2019.

Understandably the filmmakers were (perhaps) trying to appeal to viewers from the POV of the "New Gods", but personally to me, in hindsight, this promo and "direction" heralded the slight veering of the series for me, deviating from S1 to the more "commercially friendly" S2, which was for a lack of flavour even with plenty to bite on, IMHO. Or perhaps I just could not properly digest the changing of the story path in the (TV adaptation) source ...? I wonder how S3 will be too tho...
