DETECTIVE DEE: THE FOUR HEAVENLY KINGS 狄仁杰之四大天王 - Official Trailer & Poster
WHAT-IS: "Detective Dee is forced to defend himself against the accusations of Empress Wu while investigating a crime spree."

I've had a distinct attraction to their first film "Detective Dee and the Mystery of the Phantom Flame" (2010 / REVIEWED) - not least watching it with my late-Dad (we don't watch too many films together...), but it was quite a somewhat "refreshing" look at martial arts films, which ironically imbedded the qualities of modern day "CSI" investigative shows, which worked well into the context of "advanced kung-fu" (who I'd like to call mass commercial films not employing real kungpfu fights, ala Jet Li and Donnie Yens of the cinematic world), I'd watched the sequel "Young Detective Dee: Rise of the Sea Dragon" (2013) - which was in essence a "prequel" (aka "No More Andy Lau") - thankfully via the comforts of the armchair at home ... looking at the trailer for "Detective Dee: The Four Heavenly Kings", it looks to be utterly OTT now, back to the whims of director Tsui Hark letting loose the CGI-beastmachine yet again LOL
Taiwanese born actor, singer and model Mark Chao takes over the role of "Detective Di Ren Jie", while Hong Kong actress Carina Lau returns to the role she first played in 2010, as "Empress Wu Ze Tian".
