A Closer Look Into "The Witness" for LOVE DEATH + ROBOTS (Mild Spoilers / Mature Audience)
WHAT: "A woman witnesses a murder in a building in front of the hotel where she is staying. Cat-and-mouse game begins when she comes eye to eye with the murderer."
Episode #3 of LOVE DEATH + ROBOTS is titled "The Witness" - featuring 12 excitable minutes of intensely hyper sexuality and sexual suggestions, a heavy swath of S&M, and a Twilight-Zone-esque story, as written and directed by Alberto Mielgo (www), based on Mielgo's original story, featuring animation production by Pinkman.TV. This episode as well features frontal nudity, all of whom are bathed in a palette of neon-excess, and to me is one of the most visually appealing and wholly attractive episodes of them all. Reminds me heaps of prestige graphic novels from days past, when painted "indie"-aesthetics were the boon of comicbooks, IMHO.
This is most definitely Rated M18/R21.
UPDATED: Director Alberto Mielgo shares some concept images on his Facebook (some of which are showcased here), along with his thoughts on "Character Design";
"For our characters I wanted to create multiracial characters, contemporary and very close to us, vulnerable and away from the hero archetype. I didn't want anything extra masculine or extra feminine, I wanted real people with a background and a personality. Realistic in proportions to enhance the proximity to the audience but also with simplified and graphic features for greater expressivity. ( Also realistic proportions because it would had been so weird a full on striptease and pubes with mainstream cartoon proportions...)"
"The design of clothes is something that obsesses me while designing characters. The clothes, the make up and the hair style define the personality of each character. Why they choose such clothes, such a hair cut or why they wear them in such way?.
