"WHAT IF" Animated Series from Marvel Studios Announced at #SDCC2019

Introduced at the MARVEL Comic-Con Panel in Hall H at the 2019 San Diego Comic-Con as part of Marvel's "Phase 4" projects, was the animated series titled "WHAT IF", to debut on streaming service Disney+/Disney Plus.

- Original Actors from the love action films will voice their animated character.
- "The Watcher" will be voiced by Jeffrey Wright.

Speaking with Screen Rant, Kevin Feige revealed the first season of What If...? will focus on stories that could have happened during the events of the first 23 films of the MCU.
"Right now, we’re focusing on for the first season, everything you know about the 23 movies in the Infinity Saga and adding one twist to them and seeing how everything turns out different."
"The show will explore ideas like “What if Peggy Carter picked up Steve’s shield to become Captain America?” and it’ll include the voices of returning Marvel stars like Michael B. Jordan, Josh Brolin, Mark Ruffalo, Samuel L. Jackson, Hayley Atwell, Chadwick Boseman, Karen Gillan, Paul Rudd, Michael Douglas, Neal McDonough, Dominic Cooper, Sean Gunn, and Natalie Portman." As a comicbook-reader, I'd always been a huge fan of their "What-If" series, perfect for my greedy needs to seeing "alternative" or stories and characters I adore, with a "twist" to them. A parallel story-telling device from DC Comics would be their "Elseworlds" series - whereby all stories are self-contained and are not apart of the original characters myriad of back-stories.

And having the series animated, is a perfect vehicle to showcase that! The question is, are we going to see aesthetics and styles we have come to expect from their regular animated cartoons? Or do they intend to one-up aesthetics brought on by SPIDER-MAN: INTO THE SPIDER-VERSE (*Which was made by SONY, actually)?
