Official Teaser for "ZERO" (on Netflix) ... & full movie for "La Haine" (1995)
A shy boy who used to feel invisible, develops an extraordinary superpower that takes over when he meets a group of friends intent on saving their neighborhood. Making it only together. Love, the desire to pursue dreams, the power of friendship. This is Zero, the new Netflix original series, coming April 21st.
Watching this teaser trailer immediately reminded me of 1995's "La Haine" (Starring Vincent Cassel, Hubert Koundé and Saïd Taghmaoui, written, co-edited, and directed by Mathieu Kassovitz), which "chronicled the 24 hour-life of three friends living in a poor neighbourhood in Paris which is populated by immigrants and set out to a night journey in which they get caught by the police." (Wiki), which I had watched+devoured in a local film festival back in the day, and had been on the search reliving the celluloid experience since - be it via more commercially recognisable films such as "Yamakasi" (2004) or even "Banlieue 13 / District 13" (2004). I was going to ramble on about missing watching the film, but I've since found the full 1hr 37+minuter film on youtube (with English subtitles).
