"NET GOAL WINS" kicks off in Singapore cinemas from December 7th, and I am wondering if this'll fare better than overseas, especially when folks might be more familiar with "soccer" here... but who knows? Check out the various clips and trailers, and make your own decisions, cheers.





Directed by Academy Award Winner Taika Waititi (Jojo Rabbit, Thor: Ragnarok), NEXT GOAL WINS follows the American Samoa soccer team, infamous for their brutal 31-0 FIFA loss in 2001. With the World Cup Qualifiers approaching, the team hires down-on-his-luck, maverick coach Thomas Rongen (Michael Fassbender) hoping he will turn the world’s worst soccer team around in this heartfelt underdog comedy.

With the current "scandalous" takes and shares of Taika's words for his Marvel films making it's rounds on socials, the following video really reminds you of how Taika takes the Mickey out of things and himself, and I have little doubt he "took opine for the team" by offering himself up to rancid ridicule, to help promote this feature film, which would be hard pressed to be enticing to your average watcher, perhaps? Whatever works...!
