INTRO: "Acclaimed filmmaker Guy Ritchie brings his dynamic style to the epic fantasy action adventure “King Arthur: Legend of the Sword.” Starring Charlie Hunnam in the title role, the film is an iconoclastic take on the classic Excalibur myth, tracing Arthur’s journey from the streets to the throne.
When the child Arthur’s father is murdered, Vortigern (Jude Law), Arthur’s uncle, seizes the crown. Robbed of his birthright and with no idea who he truly is, Arthur comes up the hard way in the back alleys of the city. But once he pulls the sword from the stone, his life is turned upside down and he is forced to acknowledge his true legacy…whether he likes it or not."
The trailer was unleashed to the world circa San Diego Comic Con 2016 (July 20-24), with the clip showcasing a few of my personal fav Guy Ritchie-styles of ramp-up speed and rewinding (shades of 1998’s “Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels” and 2000’s “Snatch” … everything else was quite rubbish, well, except for maybe “Sherlock Holmes” 1, not two :p) and a very decently ripped Hunnam - which at one point (taking Excalibur out of the stone), reminded me tons of Heath Ledger in “A Knight's Tale”, innit?
This is the first film in a planned series of six, mind! Time to bring back some knights in shining armour, eh? #NICE
KING ARTHUR: LEGEND OF THE SWORD premieres March 24, 2017, in the USA, and 23 March 2017 in Singapore.
