Universal’s THE MUMMY - Teaser Trailer & Poster

STORYLINE: "Though safely entombed in a crypt deep beneath the unforgiving desert, an ancient princess whose destiny was unjustly taken from her is awakened in our current day, bringing with her malevolence grown over millennia, and terrors that defy human comprehension." (Universal Pictures)

The trailer had just seen an online reveal before the weekend, along with the first poster image (above), with the film scheduled for a June 9th, 2017 premiere in the United States.

The film headlines Tom Cruise (as Nick Morton), Annabelle Wallis (as Jenny Halsey), and very interestingly, Russell Crows will play “Dr. Henry Jekyll” - which folks familiar with the lore(s), morphs in the destructive “Mr Hyde”!

The role of “Ahmanet” AKA “The Mummy” herself, is played by actress Sofia Boutella (“Jaylah” in ‘Star Trek Beyond’, “Gazelle” in ‘Kingsman: The Secret Service’) - who looks great in the trailer, but somewhat bored in the BTS still (but of course, as all things-film before the final result on the silver screens :p)

I am less enamoured of Tom Cruise in this film, compared to the notion of the upcoming plans, by which “THE MUMMY” is the first installment in the Universal Monsters Cinematic Universe (Wiki) - which includes “Invisible Man”, “Wolf Man”, “Van Helsing”, “Creature from the Black Lagoon”, “Bride of Frankenstein” etc., in this reboot of “classic” horror-film characters.

Besides directing this feature film, Alex Kurtzman is also involved with other Universal Studios related projects, including “The Invisible Man” (credited as “Producer”), “Van Helsing (co-writer, producer), and a Producer for “The Vampire Chronicles”.
