Inside #GameofThrones: A Story in Visual Effects & The Announcement of "Game of Thrones: The Last Watch" BTS Documentary

The 4th "Inside Game of Thrones" behind-the-scenes video features the "Visual Effects" done for the series, with VFX producer Steve Kullback and supervisor Joe Bauer explaining the challenges and fun of pushing the boundaries of special effects. One of the main things which I had earlier taken for granted but now appreciate more of, is the VFX that has been done for the show, especially the care to make it not as "showy", and looking like it is grounded very much in the background, instead of forefront-in-your-face spectacles of genre films, IMHO.

This wikiedia post lists out all the post-houses hired for the show since Season 1, if you are into such details and credits.

This video comes after the recent announcement by HBO, of a 2-hour documentary titled "Game of Thrones: The Last Watch", which "delves deep into the mud and blood to reveal the tears and triumphs involved in the challenge of bringing the fantasy world of Westeros to life in the very real studios, fields and car-parks of Northern Ireland." (Full press release here).

British filmmaker Jeanie Finlay was embedded on the set of the hit HBO series Game of Thrones for a whole year with the resultant documentary debuting Sunday May 26 at 9 PM, one week after the series finale.

"Game of Thrones" returns for its final season on April 14.
