Zack Snyder's Justice League on HBO Max (#ReleaseTheSnyderCut To Be Released!)

*POSSIBLE SPOILERS AHEAD*

Top of entertainment news yesterday morning (at least in my corner of social media), was the announcement of Zack Snyder's JUSTICE LEAGUE coming to HBO Max in 2021. Yes, the infamous "Snyder's Cut" will finally see screen time, and quite aptly on (streaming) television too, IMHO.

And while it would have been near impossible for the studios to continue to fund a completion of a big-screen version, probably a small-screen version, along with a streaming business deal, could've helped bring back to life 2017's JUSTICE LEAGUE.

Finally folks' #ReleaseTheSnyderCut has become a "successful hashtag", as acknowledged in the Officially Press Release featured below.

No doubt the news has meant with both excitement (cue the stars themselves - see their response below, well, except for Gal Gadot, at this time when people expect "instantaneous-response" :p), and of course hyper-negativity from naysayers aplenty, and general Snyder-haters.

I for one, however, and quite looking forward to viewing this incarnation - whether I'll love it or hate it later, I personally do appreciate having the choice and opportunity, otherwise I'd be quite literally stuck with that one version I'd watch before, and that would quite literally suck the joy out of me.

Peppered throughout this blogpost are fan-made videos galore, who I certainly hope receive a resurgence of viewership (folks need to eat too, y'all)!

No definite premiere date nor format has been revealed at this time. To complete the Snyder Cut would of course require the FX to be completed, as well as actors returning to record extra dialogue for the film.

Hollywoodreporter.com also reported that the powers-that-be are also currently debating whether the movie will be "presented as a four-hour director’s cut or a six-”chapter” miniseries." = to which I think it would be a no-brainer for a "miniseries" format, because no one in their right mind would be able to cope with a 4 hour marathon, IMHO. Or are they angling for another "hashtagged response" to help promote the project? LOL

"I want to thank HBO Max and Warner Brothers for this brave gesture of supporting artists and allowing their true visions to be realized. Also a special thank you to all of those involved in the SnyderCut movement for making this a reality," said Zack Snyder.

"Since I got here 14 months ago, the chant to #ReleaseTheSnyderCut has been a daily drumbeat in our offices and inboxes. Well, the fans have asked, and we are thrilled to finally deliver. At the end of the day, it really is all about them and we are beyond excited to be able to release Zack’s ultimate vision for this film in 2021. This could never have happened if it weren’t for the hard work and combined efforts of the teams at HBO Max and Warner Bros. Pictures," said Robert Greenblatt, Chairman, Warner Media Entertainment and Direct-To-Consumer."
"Thanks to the efforts of a lot people, we’re excited to bring fans this highly anticipated version of Justice League," said Toby Emmerich, Chairman, Warner Bros. Pictures Group. "This feels like the right time to share Zack’s story, and HBO Max is the perfect platform for it. We’re glad the creative planets aligned, allowing us to #ReleaseTheSnyderCut."

Speaking of "the right time", producer Deborah Snyder explained how the current pandemic affected the project:
“People thought, ‘It won’t be possible to ramp up, and that maybe this should go on the back burner ... But we said, ‘No, this is the right time’ because our visual effects houses that rely on so much are running out of work, so now is the time to be doing this."

“With the new platform and streaming services, you can have something like this,” said Snyder. “You can’t release something like this theatrically, but you could with a streaming service. It’s an opportunity that wasn’t there two years ago, to be honest.”
"In Justice League, fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions. "
The Justice League screenplay is by Chris Terrio, story by Chris Terrio & Zack Snyder, based on characters from DC, Superman created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster. The film’s producers are Charles Roven, Deborah Snyder, with executive producers Christopher Nolan, Emma Thomas, Jim Rowe, Ben Affleck, Wesley Coller, Curtis Kanemoto, and Chris Terrio.
