First Look at THE CROW 2024

30 years after the first feature film (1994) starring the late Brandon Lee, we now have a first look at Bill Skarsgård (whom we JUST saw in Boy Kills World's trailer) as "Eric Draven" in "THE CROW" remake/reboot (Pic source: vanityfair.com). According to Wiki, the film is scheduled to premiere "June 7, 2024" in the United States.

Since uploading the image unto Instagram, the response and commentary has been coming in fast'n'furious! I've posted a few below for chuckles, and you can head here to add your thoughts, cheers.

SELECT COMMENTARY FROM IG-UPLOAD:

WHAT-IS: "The Crow" is an upcoming American supernatural superhero film directed by Rupert Sanders from a screenplay by Zach Baylin and Will Schneider, based on the 1989 limited comic book series of the same name by James O'Barr. It will be the fifth installment in The Crow film series, serving as a reboot."

"According to (director Rupert) Sanders, the character’s appearance is drawn not from the James O’Barr source-material comic book series, nor tragic star Brandon Lee’s take on the character in Alex Proyas’ original film. Instead, the director considered his star’s natural assets, and gazed into his own past," reported gizmodo.com, with Sanders continuing; "That look was me in the ’90s when we were squat-raving in London, [mixed with some modern influences] like Post Malone and Lil Peep. I hope people who are 19 today look at him and go, ‘That guy is us.’”

SYNOPSIS: “Soulmates Eric Draven (Skarsgård) and Shelly Webster (FKA twigs) are brutally murdered when the demons of her dark past catch up with them. Given the chance to save his true love by sacrificing himself, Eric sets out to seek merciless revenge on their killers, traversing the worlds of the living and the dead to put the wrong things right.” (gizmodo.com)

And with the above "intention" of the director, I now understand; "The Crow Is Not For Me", as MY "Crow" was in the 90s, while this generation will have their own incarnation, and I am somehow okay with that. They did say "reboot/remake", didn't they? And I will still have my DVD and 1994 movie trading cards, seen in the following time-lapsed sped-up card flip instead.. a reminder of how splendid it used to be...
