"Kung-Fu Hustle" Happenings

With news that "Kung-Fu Hustle 2" is coming, and the above image was featured at Wonder Festival Shanghai this weekend (Image via @frankkozik) ... movie-life is good once again ...
Responding to a fan in Guangzhou, Chow indicated that "it is not exactly Kung Fu Hustle 2, but it is similar." The 56-year-old also added that "it will not take place here, it is set in a foreign country". Chow shared that "the sequel will be set in modern times, and will have a similar direction as the original Kung Fu Hustle." (As reported on channelnewsasia.com, circa Feb 2019)
TRAILER FOR 2004's KUNG-FU HUSTLE:

"A petty thief aspires to become a member of the notorious Axe Gang during the 1940s in Canton, China."

Currently streaming on Netflix, you can as well purchase the movie on Amazon Blu-ray and DVD, and not forgetting the OST/Soundtrack - which features TONS of uber-classic tunes form old martial arts film = one of the x-factors of the film's appeals, IMHO.

The film won "Best Picture" and Stephen Chow as "Best Director" in the 2005 "42nd Golden Horse Awards", and as well was on of the films' I'd reviewed only Multiply (since deleted) from back in the day too LOL

Not a whole lot of collectibles made (that I know of) for Stephen Chow's seminal 2004 classic KUNG-FU HUSTLE, except for THESE vinyl collectibles from VTSS Toys, currently available to purchase online here for US$165 (for 5 x figures in "Kung Fu Party 2" / seen above), while the first series has since been listed as SOLD OUT. Released in 2018 and 2017 (respectively) the vinyl figures are sized between 6.2-6.6 inch tall, and are non-licensed (heh).

You wanna know who the "Landlady" is? Played by veteran actress Qiu Yuen; "Qiu Yuen apprenticed Chinese martial arts and Beijing-opera skills with Jackie Chan and Sammo Hung as well as Kam-Bo under the same master, Yu Jim-yuen, whilst at the Beijing Opera School (part of the Chinese Drama Academy)." (Read more imdb.com). The "iconic"-look of her in hair-curlers has since led to similar genre films made in Hong Kong, like "Kung-Fu Mahjong", after the success of "Kung-Fu Hustle".
