"The Pirates 2" - Trailer & Character Posters ... plus a look at 2014's "The Pirates"...!
I wonder if at some point somewhen in your watch-journey in the cinematic adventures, if you'd come across any media showcasing "pirates" - from live-action blockbuster Hollywood franchises, to anime (on "The Going Merry" or "Arcadia") - where the black flag with white skull and crossbones (known officially as the "Jolly Roger") fly high and striking "terror" in other ships which witness them ...?
Introducing upcoming South Korean feature film "The Pirates 2" ("해적:도깨비 깃발") - with a trailer and character posters featured here today!
Directed by Kim Jung-Hoon, with script from Chun Sung-Il, starring: Kang Ha Neul (강하늘), Han Hyo Ju (한효주), Lee Kwang Soo (이광수), Kwon Sang Woo (권상우). The film is scheduled for a "January, 2022" premiere in South Korea, distributed by Lotte Entertainment.
From the trailer you'll see it is a essentially a South Korean action comedy featuring "PIRATES"! I wonder how wonderful it would have been a crossover if the crew met "Captain Jack Sparrow" on the seven seas...! (R.I.P. "POTC"-franchise).
SYNOPSIS: "A search takes place over the ocean to find the lost treasure of the Goryeo royal family, which disappeared without trace.
Woo Moo-Chi (Kang Ha-Neul) was once a leader of a group of bandits, but he now stays on a pirate ship with his right-hand man Kang-Seob (Kim Sung-Oh). Hae-Rang (Han Hyo-Joo) is the leader of pirates on the pirate ship. She has Mak-Yi (Lee Kwang-Soo), So-Nyeo (Chae Soo-Bin) and Han-Goong (Sehun) and Akwi (Park Ji-Hwan).
The pirates find themselves up against Bu Heung-Soo (Kwon Sang-Woo) to recover the lost treasure.". (asianwiki.com)

And while I have not watched the first film "The Pirates" (2014), I have read about it, during my research for the recently concluded "Happiness (해피니스)" kdrama starring my current fav actress Han Hyo Ju, and now have a visual connection to what would be a franchise that'll fill the void left behind by Hollywood-offering "Pirates of the Caribbean", still charming in this instance with the world's growing fascination into Korean media, CG-effects on par with big-budgeted Made in China themed movies, with OTT comedic elements to the hilt.
Without knowing specifically about the premise, I am unsure if I can call "The Pirates 2" a "sequel" to 2014's "The Pirates", as it looks to feature new actors (unless they are new actors in previous character roles...), so maybe a "spiritual sequel"? I hope to be able to watch the 2014 film first, so if and when i do devour the 2022-feature, I'll attempt to share my impressions of LOL
Regardless, here's a look at the 2014 feature via a trailer and a nearly 8-minuter clip, and enjoy the movie HERE on Amazon (English Subtitled)!
