A New "Matrix" For A New Generation?

"We’ve been told that the Wachowskis have already started the writing process with early treatments and outlines already turned into the studio. No word if they will want to direct but my money says 'Claro Que Si!'…"

"The derisive ending of the original Matrix trilogy [included] the bearded Architect suggesting that Neo wasn’t the first 'One,' opening the story world for prequels."

("Matrix" Trailer - circa 1999)

The movie(s) in question, is of course "The Matrix" trilogy. A true celluloid-entertainment game changer, back in it's heyday circa 1999 to 2003 … tons of films thereafter aped what they did adopted their visual techniques, and even against an apparent plagiarism case, and after years of visual-wear-n-tear, they shall remain in geekdom infamy for all modern times, as much as it might look somewhat "corny" this day and age, a recognized "classic" in our collective visual geekery collective, IMHO.

But a sequel/prequel? A new "Matrix", for a whole new generation?

(Official Kia K900 Morpheus Big Game TVC - circa 2014)

It sure as heckbetter have a good story-angle/MacGuffin to keep me in the seats for a new trilogy, lemme tell ya! But you know what, maybe the next generation of cinephiles DOES need a new silver screen anthem to call "their own, innit? Hey, if Star Wars is gonna pull one (or three) off, why not The Matrix?

Any similarities to the first incarnation(s), we could always chalk it up as a "deja-vu-glitch", innit? Heh.

What are YOUR opinions on a new celluloid series?
