Trailer for #Sicario2: Soldado
SYNOPSIS: "After discovering that drug cartels are smuggling terrorists across the US border, the CIA sends Matt Graver (Josh Brolin) and former undercover operative Alejandro (Benicio del Toro) to eliminate the problem. Along the way, Alejandro revisits his old nemesis to settle scores." (Wiki)
This particular genre might not fall into the "regular wheelhouse" at PopcornX, but I adored the first incarnation, and hoped this will continue to entertain me, perhaps? Sans actress Emily Blunt, and the deft direction of Denis Villeneuve (who did 'Sicario") and cinematographer Roger Deakins.
"Soldado" is directed by Stefano Sollima, written by Taylor Sheridan - who wrote the first film.
"Josh Brolin has called Sicario 2: Soldado, the sequel to 2015’s Sicario, a “more severe” and “much bigger” film than the first. Screenwriter Taylor Sheridan said it makes Sicario “look like a comedy.” Benicio Del Toro would just add that while Sicario was more of a “really hardcore straight line,” this one “is a little more complicated.”" (Reported by ew.com)
