#CrazyRichAsians SG Parodies
"Crazy Rich Asians" is a 2018 American romantic comedy-drama film based on Kevin Kwan's novel of the same name. Directed by Jon M. And while I am neither "rich" nor "crazy" (debatable) to discern if this fictional Hollywood film is "legit" or not (It's a feature film for pete's sake, not a documentary about Singapore's multi-national citizens) but sure as heck I appreciate the "Asian" representation (Even tho I've been reading about it not being "worthy" to have "Asian" in the title as it did not portray other Asian nationalities other than Chinese...) least of all the usage of "Singlish" rather than straight-laced American or England-English ... but I'll let these following parodies show you instead :)
What we (Singaporeans) should also consider, is that when given the opportunity when a spotlight is shone "our" way, even for a split-second, that we probably shouldn't spend and/or waste too much time complaining it away, but rather embrace said opportunity to showcase what you have and are capable of, even for "a split-second", IMHO. Kudos to these parodies - not necessarily for their grab at infamy (I am not here to knock anyone's hustle, hor), but for seizing the chance to shine in the spotlight!
