My initial memories for this series is muddled at best. I suspect I chanced upon it as I was enjoying/enjoyed "Kingdom", and was not looking to relive a "period" series, even though this was obviously a fantasy setting, not based on historical context - fictional or otherwise. Or maybe I was influenced by what I'd initially read from online commenters, who did not seem to be too fond of the series (and of course I might be reading from biased www-locales :p). Be that as it may, the trailers look to be visually enticing (at least), and I decided to take a watch, in "preparation" for "Sword of Aramun". It is currently showing on Netflix SG, so binge at your own comfort and pace...!

The first episode set me off on a binge of what would be a "Game of Thrones"-esque adventure, but sans "dragons", in place would be "Neanthal" and "Igutus" of a massive world-build, mixed in with pagan-rituals of dancing and celebrations, complete with multiple Gods worshipped by different tribes, not so far removed from "current day reality" we live in, and still recognisable amidst the frills. Not to say "everything is original", as you can pick out the tropes from inspirations, ideas and concepts, but blended together, with a Asian-flavor, makes for a much more appealing concoction that I'd first imagined, IMHO...

...also Kim Ok-Vin (The protagonist in Jung Byung-gil's "THE VILLAINESS") as "Taealha", has my heart in a vice-like grip...!

As mentioned, there are some changes in Season2 from Season 1, the prime of which is Song Joong-Ki as "Eunseom" and "Saya" is replaced by Lee Joon-Gi, and Kim Ji-Won as "Tanya" is replaced by Shin Se-Kyung. Other than that, with the trailers and promos, you could literally see the budget multiplied far and wide for S2.

"The Sword Of Aramun" refers to one of the three items of prophecy that would bring about the downfall of Arthdal: "Sword, Bell and Mirror". Both the Bell and Mirror are revealed in Season One (Tanya found the literal "bell", while Saya+Euseom are literal "mirrors" of each other), and I had initially though the "sword" was brought about by Taealha (in S1), but current trailers have proven me wrong...! "Aramun" refers to "Aramun Haesulla", the "Founder of Arthdal/ God of Harmony and Unification".

S1 consisted of 15 episodes, while S2 will consist of 8 episodes (info TBC), airing two episodes a week on Saturdays and Sundays at 21:20. Here ar some more handy info, swiped off Twiter/X, for your reading considerations, cheers.
