Mid-Season Trailer for MONARCH: LEGACY OF MONSTERS on AppleTV & My Thoughts So Far

Godzilla battles the Titans in a mid-season trailer
for #Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, streaming on Apple+.

I really did not plan to watch this, but curiosity and a decent chunk of time availed itself, and I was pleasantly surprised and by Episode 3, I'd realized I was looking forward to the 4th, and here we are, with a mid-season trailer, for MONARCH: LEGACY OF MONSTERS.

I appreciated the tie-in to the KONG SKULL ISLAND feature film, and the world-building across the media, as well the timelines, which I personally felt enriched the history of "Monarch". The characters are plausible and not wholly likeable as well, and I appreciated that too. "Slightly-broken" people navigating "a world where Titans/Kaiju exists", certainly makes for a interesting watch, even if slightly off-kilter, and wholly unable to empathize with their emotions and thoughts, IMHO. But then again, maybe that's what has made it "interesting" for me, at least .... to find out about the characters and what happens to them, as opposed to "what Monarch is", IMHO.

My only complaint is not that "we see less of Godzilla" (because that is a given), but the other Titans that we see (so far), reeks so much of Kaiju from the Breech in Pacific Rim, rather than species that "belong to Godzilla". You can argue that they are all different species, but frankly I do not appreciate that non-distinction with the day-glow neon elements.

Monarch: Legacy of Monsters: Following the thunderous battle between Godzilla and the Titans that leveled San Francisco, and the shocking revelation that monsters are real, “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters” tracks two siblings following in their father’s footsteps to uncover their family’s connection to the secretive organization known as Monarch.

Clues lead them into the world of monsters and ultimately down the rabbit hole to Army Officer Lee Shaw (played by Kurt Russell and Wyatt Russell), taking place in the 1950s and half a century later where Monarch is threatened by what Shaw knows.

Based on the Monsterverse from Legendary, and starring Kurt Russell, Wyatt Russell, Anna Sawai, Kiersey Clemons, Ren Watabe, Mari Yamamoto, Anders Holm, Joe Tippett and Elisa Lasowski, this dramatic saga — spanning three generations — reveals buried secrets and the ways that epic, earth-shattering events can reverberate through our lives.
