The 2025 Teochew Film Festival

Singapore Teochew Festival 2025 01

The first ever Teochew Film Festival in Singapore launched March 8th, 2025, with three short films screened at the Ngee Ann Kongsi Auditorium, in National Gallery Singapore.

Hosted by Kenneth Tan (Chairman of the Singapore Film Society), the festival begun with the screening of "Longevity Peach" (2017), and was followed by a conversation with Director Ng Xin Min on stage. 2015's "Miss Dakota" was the second (documentary)film to be screened, and was as well followed with a conversation on stage with Director Jason Lai. Both films were Made In Singapore projects.

After a Tea Break Intermission, the final short film screening of the event was "Lost Pig (奔猪)" (2023) from China, directed by Guo Weiming, who was not present at the event, but has left a video message for viewers. His producer stood in his stead.

Featured below is the full short film for "Longevity Peach《寿桃》" for your viewing considerations, cheers.

Organized by The Singapore Film Society, and sponsored by Ngee Ann Kongsi, with Teoswa International Film Art Festival (TIFAF) being the Programme Partner. You can find out more about the event online here, cheers.

I've had the opportunity to attend the event (my "first" after decades away from any semblance of "film festivals", which in turn fuelled my passion for films and making films, actually), and wanted to archive this for the blog, and look forward to more Teochew film fests to come, reconnecting to my Teochew heritage, which in itself is a whole conversation in itself, cheers.

Cheers,
Andy
